I'm no twisting pro, still practicing. I've watched her do this method a number of times and I can't figure out how it's different from flat twisting? I feel like this is how I flat twist. I want to start doing flat twist outs and I remembered her method. Has anyone done this? Are the results different from flat twisting?....or is this just a flat twist lol *confused*.

Wish I could help, I've never flat twisted. The twists I did on my relaxed hair were very hit or miss. I plan to practice this technique when my new natural hair gets longer.

    Good luck!

    Don't be sour. :hug2:
I don't think that's a flat twist. I think a flat twist is like a cornrow in that it's aligned with the scalp. You know what I'm saying?

I always thought it was a layered flat twist out. Like instead of twisting down her whole head she just did it half way and twisted each portion

It's just a flat twist out, her texture and hair density are what make it look different. I guess if you have thin hair it can make it look more dense?

You think so? Maybe I need to look at the video again. She has all the hair in the world. I think she has some of my hair.

Not at all. It's just so dead on the hair side. Used to be so helpful. I would've figured it out either way, just miss the hair side sometimes. I forget how different it is here now.

Seems like a flat twist to me but she always presents it as if it's something different or her method. I've always been so curious about it like why not just call it a flat twist.

I think ahe was just market herself. I find it so weird when YTbers try to coin a method (I want to say kimmaytube started that trend, could be wrong) like we all are natural so it's just a natural hair method. Always trying to act like it's some new new meanwhile ain't nothing new under the sun.

I do wish this side of the forum could get resuscitated though. No idea how as of yet :cry4:

I can't flat twist to save my life. I think my hair is too kinky. It takes too long to get my fingers through it.

I know! I didn't realize it was so inactive. I miss the old days.

Your probably right about marketing. Like in this vid the lady says she's trying "Naptural's method" in the description box and I'm like wait isn't that a flat twist out. Beautiful results though.

    Lol dang girl
but she makes sure her sections of hair she pulls up are neat. I know for me when I flat twist I'm just grabbing whatever and sometimes my sections get mixed up. Makes the twists less defined

@Pokahontas , @DanceOnTheSkylines and @gorgeoushair ITA with all of your comments about the forum. It is sad to see the lack of activity. I've posted similar comments in other threads. I think perhaps a lot of members are on IG - not sure. We
It's pretty sad when a hair forum comprised mainly of men is more active than a hair forum for women.
I am documenting as much "information and knowledge" as I can, just in case ...

This. My hair is way too kinky for a flat twist. This vid is just a regular flat twist that she pins down to stretch. I think she calls it a regular twist b/c it's so easy - she just grabs n twists.

I dont really do twist outs but I've tried this method as my hair is med- low density. Her sectioning method made things more organised for me. And like she did, I made sure I twisted the two strands on themselves twice before adding another section. It is kind of just flat twisting but turned out quite defined and less parts show. I still didn't wear my hair loose because the shape still left it looking kind of sparse in the middle but it was good after styling.

I think it is a flat twist, but the twists aren't flat against her head. They are still loose like regular twists. I do this all the time since I can't flat twist against my scalp lol.

Looks like a flat twist to me.

ETA: the only thing I see her doing differently is she is twisting the first two strands two or three times before she starts picking up additional hair. But it's still a flat twist.

I don't consider it a flat twist. A flat twist is exactly what it is called. Flat (to the head) twist. I remember when she started doing this. She twisted that way so she didn't have to separate regular twists or flat twists too much. If you did flat twist (or even regular twists) you'd have to separate. There is very little separation required with method because when you take the twists out they are already individually separated.

I hope that makes sense. I used the work separated a lot. Lol

Do you think we lost members when they changed/upgraded the forum?

I know that I couldn't log in for a few days. Also, the app went away.

Hopefully, things will pick up when it gets colder outside.

I agree with this. These aren't flat twist even though they are similar. I wear flat twist every week and they are just that ... flat. If you did flat twist on an old twist out it would change the style a bit.

The fact that you don't pull the hair taut makes her method a bit different than flat twist and makes it more suitable for keeping your twist for a twist out.

It makes sence but it looks flat to the head to me. From what I can see her sections are neater/more precise than flat twists? Maybe that's the difference. I feel like that's how I already flat twist though. I dunno

I'm not sure maybe. I think other areas of the forum are more active. Maybe everyone went there and switched to YouTube/IG/Pinterest for their hair needs since people are more visual that could've been what happened. Mostly the negative drama filled threads are filled with people. I can't say maybe people don't have time or don't want to take the time to type a response cuz they be up in the drama threads writing novels for responses:bookworm::lachen:

That looks more like a flat twist than Nap's.
